Head Teacher’s Welcome

Nestled in the picturesque village of Charing, near Ashford, our school is a thriving and rapidly growing community. Currently, we have over 165 children enrolled across seven classes from Reception to Year 6, and we are proud to serve this vibrant and expanding population. Our preschool, which opened in September 2022, is an integral part of our school family, offering early years education that lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning. As our community continues to grow, so does our preschool, which is expanding to two rooms, enabling us to welcome up to 40 children at a time.

What truly distinguishes our school is our children. Supported by the Aquila family, we are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where every child is nurtured not only academically but also spiritually and emotionally. We believe in developing intellectual curiosity alongside a strong moral character, ensuring our pupils grow into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to thrive in all aspects of life. This holistic approach is at the heart of everything we do.

Our school offers a unique blend of enriching experiences that set us apart. We are fortunate to have an amazing outdoor environment, including Forest School for all children and OPAL play, which encourages creativity, independence and physical activity. Our strong connections with Godinton House, the local church and the wider village community enrich our curriculum and provide valuable opportunities for our children to learn beyond the classroom. Additionally, our free after-school clubs, our Gold standard School Games Mark, and specialist teaching in Art, PE and Music for every child in Key Stage 2 on Fridays highlight our commitment to providing a broad, balanced and enriching education.

We are particularly proud of the recognition our school received last academic year through both our Ofsted and SIAMS inspections. Both reports highlighted many of the strengths that we feel truly capture the character of Charing Primary School – our strong curriculum and teaching, the care and support we provide for our children, our inclusive ethos and the importance we place on developing the whole child. We are proud of these outcomes, but even more proud that they reflect the everyday experience of being part of our school community. The full Ofsted and SIAMS reports can be found on our website.

Behind these achievements is a warm and caring team of staff and a dedicated PTFA that works tirelessly to support the school community. Our children consistently achieve strong outcomes, reflecting the high standards we set and the supportive environment we foster. It is a privilege to lead such a dynamic and growing school where every child is valued, encouraged and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

If you would like to come and visit our school or require any further information, please contact our School Office. We currently have spaces available in most year groups and would love to welcome prospective families to come and see what makes Charing Primary School such a special place to learn. If you are considering a place for your child, please contact the School Office to arrange a school tour.
