Physical Education (PE)

Subject Leader: Hannah Carrington

At Charing Church of England Primary School, Physical Education (PE) is a vital part of our inclusive, creative learning community where every child’s talents are nurtured and celebrated. Rooted in our Christian values, our PE curriculum aims to inspire children to be curious, passionate, and resilient lifelong learners who appreciate the importance of physical health and wellbeing. We believe that developing physical literacy and promoting active lifestyles are essential for building confident, compassionate individuals who stand up for what is right and contribute positively to society.

Key Aims

Our PE curriculum is designed to:

  • Develop fundamental movement skills and physical literacy from Early Years through to Key Stage 2, ensuring all children build strong fine and gross motor skills.

  • Foster enjoyment and enthusiasm for physical activity, encouraging children to engage in PE lessons and extracurricular opportunities with confidence and resilience.

  • Embed our school values through teamwork, fair play, respect, and perseverance during physical activities and competitive sports.

  • Support children to understand the importance of health, fitness, and wellbeing as part of their lifelong learning journey.

  • Provide equitable access to high-quality PE, promoting inclusion and supporting children with additional needs to participate fully.
