Charing PTFA (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) is an informal group of parents, carers, teachers and friends who support the school in different ways. It can also be a good way to meet other parents and make new friends, especially if you are new to the area.
We have meetings every few months to plan fundraising events, social activities, and also to provide support at school events when needed. We normally meet in the Staff Room at school, and the meetings are open to anyone who wishes to support the school. If you are unable to attend the meetings but would like to help when you can, please let us know, we are always keen to hear new ideas and find out your talents!
Over the years we have organized a huge range of events for both fundraising and fun including our annual 10K race which attracts runners from all over the county and beyond, cake sales, Barn Dances, camp overs, boot fairs, fashion shows – the list goes on.
Since the start of this academic year (Sept 2015) the PTFA have made significant donations to school (totalling several thousand pounds) which include a new PA system for the hall, new sports equipment for playtime, a large outdoor clock, with plans for further donations this year to enhance the reading area in every classroom, repaint the playgrounds, fund the cost of coaches for a whole school trip, and more!… Please see the list of events (on the link below) planned for this year which range from our ever popular sponsored ‘Pancake Flip’, to making tea at our many events, manning the school disco, to applying for substantial grants and organizing larger events. Alongside this we get involved in supporting annual village events such as the Church Fete and Christmas Lights. We also organize additional activities for the children, such as the opportunity for parents to buy their child’s Christmas card design, school tea towels etc. If there is something you would like us to offer, that we aren’t currently, please get involved!
Above all, we exist to support school in helping all our children to have an exciting, happy and enriching time at Charing School, and provide some of the extra sparkle to school life!
